PRIVACY POLICY

The goal of the Westside Urban Forum (WUF) is to nurture a web of personal relationships that stimulates better policy discussions and outcomes and helps create a better city.  For this exchange to function freely, WUF and its members insist upon mutual respect for privacy, strict confidentiality of proprietary information, and copyright protection.

What information is collected about me when I visit www.westsideurbanforum.com? How is it used?

We analyze this information to help us make the site more useful for future visitors. The information is not personally identifiable, and we make no attempt to link it with individuals who browse the site.

What about "cookies"?

WUF uses cookies to store and track certain information about you. A cookie is a small amount of data sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computer’s hard drive. In general, WUF uses cookies to store account login information provided by visitors to the members-only areas of our site, and to keep track of cart information when a user registers and pays for an event online.

If you browse the site with the cookies option turned off, you will not be able to use members-only services in the secure members-only area.

How secure is my credit card information?

When you pay online from this site, we need your name, E-mail address, shipping address, and credit card number/expiration date. We use this data to process and send your order and shipping confirmations. We do not use this data for any other purpose.
Our secure server software (SSL) is the industry standard and among the best software available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet.

WUF is fully committed to data security. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put in place physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information you provide to us online.

Does www.westsideurbanforum.com host advertising?

The WUF website does not sell media space to third-party advertisers.

How will my e-mail address be used?

WUF communicates about its programs and offers primarily through e-newsletters. These include newsletters about monthly events, special events, and events co-sponsored by WUF and its partners. In addition, e-mail notices are used to inform about membership renewal, special offers, and improvements and features available at www.westsideurbanforum.com.

How do I opt out of e-mail communications?

You can decline to receive e-mail notifications. Although most members tell us they appreciate receiving notice of these opportunities, we recognize the importance of providing you with choices. At any time, you may ask that these offers be discontinued by simply replying to the e-mail and informing us of your preferences. If you continue to receive E-mail communications after you have unsubscribed, please contact us directly at [email protected]

Who else has access to my member record?

WUF Board Members and Administrators have access to full member listings. WUF limits access and the type of information about members through the secured WUF Directory at www.westsideurbanforum.com. The WUF Directory lists all members by name and affiliation. Members may opt to disclose further information. Member information is not available in list or data download format. We recognize the responsibility that comes with handling information and will apply security measures to safeguard information about our members.

Are there any restrictions on members’ use of the directory?

Yes. Members are prohibited from using any directory listing for commercial or promotional purposes. Directory listings are provided to foster personal communication between two members, not for mass mailings or spam (unsolicited e-mail). The secure WUF Directory requires members to enter individual log-on ID and their password for access to this area.

How do I change my contact information?

You may update or change information related to you by accessing your membership profile in the Members Only area of the WUF Web site with your Logon ID and password. For other questions related to updating or changing your membership information, please send e-mail to [email protected]

Does WUF sell its mailing list?

No, WUF does not provide member e-mail addresses to third parties. From time to time, however, WUF issues emails on behalf of partner organizations to assure that members have the widest knowledge of available opportunities for continuing education, conferences, conventions, meetings, publications, technical services, and other topics likely to be of interest and value. WUF will at its sole discretion determine the acceptability of information that falls within the categories described above. It is WUF’s policy that such promotions should not be political in nature, should not solicit donations, and should not contravene WUF policies or contain information that would allow a recipient to identify the identity or sources of the list.

Can I download or forward information from WUF’S Web site to others?

All contents (includes logos, graphics, artwork, photos, button icons, and texts) on WUF’s Web site and publications are copyrighted and all rights are reserved. Publications cited by WUF are typically not available through WUF. They can be obtained from the sources listed.

This site or any portion of this site may not be reproduced, duplicated, copied, sold, resold, or otherwise exploited for any commercial purpose that is not expressly permitted by WUF.
