A nonprofit organization dedicated to land use issues in Los Angeles seeks a part-time administrator to oversee events, membership, and logistical tasks.
The Westside Urban Forum brings together professionals and community members for events related to topics including urban planning, real estate development, transportation, urban design, social justice, architecture, and public policy.
Events include monthly breakfast panel discussions, an annual awards ceremony, plus periodic tours, happy hours, and other special events. The administrator assists with these events, helps run the organization, and helps execute special initiatives, reporting to and collaborating with a volunteer board and supporting the board president and other officers.
Time Commitment
This position will entail 25 - 35 hours per month. It is mostly virtual/remote and flexible, with in-person attendance expected at board meetings and most events.
Candidate Background
The ideal candidate will have experience with a combination of event management, nonprofit management, and hospitality required. Interest in land use and familiarity with the Westside of Los Angeles preferred. Self-motivation and organizational skills are crucial.
Compensation
This is a contract position. Pay is a flat monthly rate of $1200-1500, depending on experience. Commissions for fundraising and other promotions may be available.

Responsibilities
Administrative Support
- Field incoming phone calls and emails; receive and respond to mail.
- Organize and attend board meetings; take and distribute meeting notes.
- Maintain and update website.
- Maintain and organize internal documents, including meeting minutes, board roster, reports for board meetings, membership roster, and email distribution list.
- Manage organization’s finances, including assistance with tax preparation and tending to accounts payable and receivable.
- Maintain master calendar.
- Help keep board members on-task to prepare for events and execute other initiatives.
Event Management
- Maintain rosters of event attendees.
- Maintain events calendar.
- Coordinate with event venues; arrange catering.
- Assist onsite, including checking in attendees.
- Prepare event-specific material, such as bios of speakers.
Outreach & Promotions
- Send email-based announcements of upcoming events.
- Send invoices to members and sponsors.
- Assist with board-generated promotional campaigns to attract members and sponsors.
- Coordinate with partner organizations.
- Regular promotional and informational posting on social media.
